The Steering Committee: Guiding the Process Towards Renewal
Role of Steering Committee
The Committee provides oversight and endorsement to the Project and serves in a consultative and advisory role. It meets regularly to receive updates from Committee members and working group representatives and to make strategic and high-level operational decisions. The Committee is responsible to the University of Saskatchewan’s Executive Sponsor and to the USSU General Manager. Given the level of detailed work that needs to be accomplished in many different areas for such an extensive renovation and expansion project, the Steering Committee delegates work to Working Groups as necessary. These Working Groups perform the necessary analysis and research and present recommendations to the Steering Committee for decision-making.
Role of Working Groups
Working Groups are formed as necessary, based on direction from the Steering Committee. Working Group composition can vary based on the knowledge required to accomplish the necessary analysis and research and is usually led by at least one member of the Steering Committee. Examples of Working Groups for this project include: Design Working Group (to finalize the design for the expanded/renovated space); Student Advisory Committee (to gather input from students across campus on desired design elements); Financing Working Group (to work out the details of project financing).
